520__|aThe curiosity about space, planets and stars is not new. Stories related to space flight even existed before the beginning of recorded history. In the midst of twentieth century, space technology came in to existence, when former USSR placed sputnik-1 in the low earth orbit on 04th October 1957. Space technology was developed for military uses and is now recognized as the most potent tool for improving and benefiting humankind. Space technology has shortened both time and distance by enabling instantaneous access to any location on the globe. Remote sensing and satellite technologies provide the best possibility of tracking and managing valuable natural resources including water, forestry, agriculture and climate. Space technology has now become the crucial instrument for anticipating, managing and monitoring natural disasters.
