520__|aGlobalisation impacted several sectors including communication. Press as the mirror of the society reflects what is happening and as a chronicler records what has happened. It is interesting to record the changes in the media in general and press in particular, brought about by globalisation. As an industry, media has grown many folds in India after globalisation. It is important to understand the dynamics of the growth and its impact. Odia Press has been chosen for the study for three reasons. First, it has grown at one of the fastest rates among all regional languages in the last twenty years. Second, it would be interesting to see how the press in Odisha, often termed as a rich state with poor people negotiated globalisation. Third, as Odisha is a meeting point of North, East and South Indian culture, it would be interesting to look at the change from the cultural prism.
