The gravity anomalies used in this thesis are extracted from the Gravity Map of India (1:5000000) published by NGRI-GSI in 2006. Geological Survey of India (GSI), National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Survey of India (SOI) and Oil India Limited (OIL) under joint collaborative project revised Gravity Map of India (1:5000000) published in 1975. Basic gravity data collected over 1,43,786 stations by these organizations during the last two decades was synthesized and generated a revised Gravity map Series. The series comprises Free-air Gravity map of India, Bouguer Gravity Map of India, Bouguer Gravity superposed over Geological Map of India and Gravity Image Map of India. Bouguer gravity map superposed over Geological map of India covering the area between 16° N and 22° N latitudes and 73° E and 80°
