The Southwest monsoon, which is the main source of rainfall for India, is characterised by a high variability, both on spatial and temporal scales, as it account for over 75% of annual rainfall in most parts of the India. Estuaries in the Indian subcontinent will have its most pronounced effects through altered precipitation. Thus Indian monsoonal estuaries receive concentrated seasonal discharge for a period of 4-5 months (monsoon period) when significant amount of monsoonal precipitation occurs over the Indian subcontinent. This would have significant impact on biogeochemical processes, eventually influences the biological interactions controls the abundance of organisms. The high degree of variability in the structure of zooplankton biomass and species composition in the ecosystem is due mainly to their individual hydrology, varying from peak discharge to no
