The objective of the study was to assess the effect of non surgical periodontal therapy on serum levels of HbA1c in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with moderate to severe periodontitis. The study was carried out on a population consisted of 150 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients aged 30 to 70 years suffering from chronic generalised periodontitis. In this non randomised study, the subjects were selected from amongst the patients reporting at medicine OPD from July 2018 to December 2020. The subjects were assessed for presence or absence of gingival bleeding, periodontal pockets and loss of attachment. Based on the mean difference reduction of HbA1c in the three treatment groups of Curettage (Group A), only Scaling (Group B) and No Treatment group or control group (Group C), the HbA1c levels of subjects with moderate to severe periodontitis were significantly |
