This case control study was carried out on 200 age matched non-diabetic/ controls and diabetic individuals from outpatient and inpatient department of Government Medical College, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. Fasting plasma glucose, post prandial plasma glucose, serum vitamin D, serum calcium and serum phosphorus of all the 100 control and 100 diabetic subjects was determined using standard methods. The subjects were classified age wise and sex wise. Both males and females were also classified into three groups on the basis of concentration of serum vitamin D into severely deficient, moderately deficient and mildly deficient groups. Serum vitamin D in non-diabeic and diabetic subject was 25.49 ± 14.47ng/ml and 21.07 ± 10.88ng/ml respectively. The difference was statistically significant.
