Clinically used anti-inflammatory drugs suffer from the disadvantage of side effects and high cost of treatment (in case of biologics). Traditional medicines and natural products offer a viable alternative to these drugs. The present study was designed to investigate the protective effects of locally available traditional medicinal plants Ficus palmate, Waldheimia glabra, Zanthoxylum armatum and Colebrookea oppositifolia. Considering the traditional medicinal importance of these plants, both the ethanolic and hydroethanolic extracts of these plants were screened for their anti-inflammatory potential. The results indicated that C. oppositifolia extracts displayed maximum anti-inflammatory potential both in-vivo and in-vitro as compared to other plants under study. Hence, C.oppositifolia was selected for further studies. The extracts were fur |
