Existing standard treatment regimen of chemotherapy and radiation therapy have poor therapeutic outcomes including side effects, off-target effects and toxicity. Furthermore, there are chances of local re-occurrence at the site of tumor, post tumor removal and successful completion of chemotherapy. OSCC also shows overexpression of EGFR which is a major factor for tumor growth and progression and hence it is necessary of control and target EGFR. Tumors developed inside the oral cavity have the potential to be treated by application of therapeutics directly at the site of disease which is also called loco-regional therapy. Such a therapy can reduce dose related toxicities as lower dose of drug will be required, and deliver drugs specifically at the site of disease thus reducing toxicities and side effects to healthy tissues.
