It could be considered as the most imperative process in the carbonate-silicate-geochemical cycle, since it acts as a long term sink for atmospheric CO2 which regulates global climate through the greenhouse effect. The rivers have the significant role to erode and transport the sediments supplied by hill slopes prepared by weathering. Among various factors which control the process of weathering, climate plays a foremost role, namely rainfall and temperature. Due to the dissimilar climatic setting that exist on either side of the Western Ghats, Kerala region (western side) experiences humid tropical climate and Tamil Nadu (eastern side) have a semiarid condition. Physiographically also these states are unlike. This situation offers the ideal conditions to study the effect of climate (differential rainfall and temperature) on the wea |
