520__|aTraditional Knowledge (TK) is an intellectual activity which has been developed, sustained and shared between generations in traditional communities. The concept of TK not only includes indigenous knowledge, but also other forms of knowledge developed in a traditional context. It is a form of knowledge which has a traditional link with a community that has developed, sustained and passed knowledge between generations, sometimes through specific customary systems of knowledge transmission. It is the relationship with the community that makes it traditional . It becomes a collective property of a community and part of their cultural or spiritual identity. The study aims to analyze the State s role in the protection of TK in the changing economic scenario and identify the issues relating implementation of the existing statutes for protecting TK and its holders.
