The concept of TK not only includes indigenous knowledge, but also other forms of knowledge developed in a traditional context. It is a form of knowledge which has a traditional link with a community that has developed, sustained and passed knowledge between generations, sometimes through specific customary systems of knowledge transmission. It is the relationship with the community that makes it traditional . It becomes a collective property of a community and part of their cultural or spiritual identity. The study aims to analyze the State s role in the protection of TK in the changing economic scenario and identify the issues relating implementation of the existing statutes for protecting TK and its holders. |
