The main causes of soil pollution include industrial activity, agricultural activities, waste disposal etc. Hence, monitoring and assessing soil and water pollution is a critical area of study that is relevant nowadays. Field study of sites is necessary to identify the pollutant causing pollution which leads to contamination. Five study areas in Kerala State which are very near to industries/landfills and contaminated by leaching action due to improper disposal of waste are selected in the present study. The soil quality and water quality parameters are analysed from samples collected from the selected sites. The pollution assessment is carried out in these selected sites to analyse the pollutants. The heavy metals present included lead, iron, zinc and chromium. The sulphate contamination was assessed in all the study areas. In order to study the variation in geotechnical pr
