Airborne sonar telemetry uses multi-core cables, which is heavy and requires bigger winch systems adds complexities to handle the cable, connectorisation, customisation of cable based on the power requirement etc. Weight of the overall sonar system can be reduced by replacing the multi-core cable with single core coaxial cable. The use of single core cable enables higher depth of operation by accommodating more cables in the limited space. Signals that are transmitted through multi-core cables have to be sent through single core cables. So the introduction of single core cables adds other set of complexities like coupling of high power AC signals to the cable through AC coupler, impedance matching for delivering maximum power to the transducer, coupling of high voltage DC to the cable through DC couplers, decoupling of high power AC signals from the cable throug |
