520__|aThe fastly growing era of wireless communication needs compact and high-performance electromagnetic devices like antenna, filters, and sensors. The conventional miniaturization techniques are bulky and require complex design. Researchers are constantly working to develop microwave devices with low profile and high radiation performance. Nowadays, metamaterials have emerged as a new realm of materials with superior properties. So, the design and development of metamaterials are found to be a real solution for the issues faced in the design of communication devices. Metamaterials are manmade periodic structures whose properties are controlled by changing the structural parameters. These are not found in nature by which they are termed as meta materials . The applications of metamaterials include antenna radiation performance enhancement, miniaturization of microwave passive/active components, compact absorbers, high impedance surfaces, artificial magnetic conductors, super lenses, cloaking devices, etc.
