It analyzes spatial variabilities, trends, and future simulations of extreme rainfall events (EREs) in a detailed and comprehensive way. Apart from the previous investigations this work uses new criteria for selecting extreme rainfall events. Identifying the moisture transport mechanisms such as Moisture Rivers gives a comprehensive idea about the past and future of extreme events. The findings are based on dedicated research. A general introduction is given in Chapter 1. A detailed literature survey on the features of monsoon rainfall with the influence of climate change on monsoon rainfall was included in this chapter. Chapter 2 describes a detailed analysis of heavy rainfall events for the year 2017. The frequency of extreme rainfall events over different regions of India during the monsoon season is studied. Monthly patterns are examined to assess the relative contributions during the four months of the season. Further |
