In the modern market, the alteration of fatty acid profiles with improved oil quality for higher oxidative stability and better dietary properties is an important and an evolving theme in groundnut breeding to meet nutritional needs and industrial criteria. In this experiment, we have characterized the Indian groundnut genotypes for ahFAD2 allele polymorphism and successfully introgressed high oleic and foliar disease resistance traits into the cultivars GPBD4 and GJG17 respectively, through marker assisted selection. A total of 174 groundnut genotypes were investigated using AS-PCRs, and CAPS assay for the ahFAD2 allele polymorphism, along with its fatty acid compositions. Of these, 80 genotypes were found having substitution (448G>A) mutation only in ahFAD2A gene, while none of them recorded 1-bp insertion (441_442insA) mutation in ahFAD2B gene. Moreover, 22 wild groundnut accessions found lac
