Many herbal drugs, siddha drugs, ayurvedic drugs are the most commonly used for managing diabetic complications like neuropathy and scientific validation, efficacy and safety are to be further assessed by well designed research. To know the neuroprotective role of Aswagandharishtam as preventive, ayurvedic and siddha medicines to treat symptoms of diabetic neuropathy in schwann cell model. In the present study, the neuroprotective activity of aswagandharistham was evaluated in Cellular model. The work involves phytochemical analysis, invitro anti-oxidant studies and neuroprotective assays including gene expression analysis. Aswagandharishtam, was found to have significant cytotoxicity against hyperglycemic schwann cells , thereby justifies its neuroprotective potential on par with the standard drug used for diabetic neuropathy, pregabalin.
