The ayurvedic medicine, Saraswatarishtam utilized in many conditions like anti-aging, to improve memory, immunity, quality of sperm and semen, to treat epilepsy. Aim: To find the possible neuroprotective role of Saraswatarishtam as preventive Ayurveda and Siddha drug to hamper cholinergic dysfunctions and histopathological changes in scopolamine treated rat model. Methods: The present study evaluates the neuroprotective activity of Saraswatharishtam in wistar Swiss albino mice model. The work includes toxicological study, neurobehavioral parameters and in vivo and in-vitro antioxidant study. Results: Saraswatharishtam, was found to ameliorate the memory loss in the elevated plus maze, radial maze and rectangular maze experiments justifying its neuroprotective potential on par with standard medicine Piracetam.
