The challenge lies on the detection from video frame when the object is in motion. This work focuses on the design and development of a method for ball detection and tracking. The work is started with the investigation of denoising, detection and tracking methods. In literature techniques had been developed such as optical flow, frame difference, background subtraction and skin color extraction. The methods are based on time, frequency and statistical analysis. But most of the methods suffer from computational complexity. The methods investigated were trajectory based ball detection and tracking, region growing algorithm, PSO algorithm and Mean Shift algorithm with HSV color space and texture features. In this work the methods like frame differencing and color based detection were used. The frame differencing method us
