The global prevalence of diabetes was about 8% in 2011 and it is predicted to increase to 10% in 2030. Acupuncture, an ancient medicine is used as an adjunct therapy throughout the World to treat various chronic ill disorders like systemic hypertension, diabetes and its complications. Our studied aimed to find out histopathological changes in the pancreas and liver with the effect of Acu- TENS non-invasive stimulation at Zusanli (ST36) and Zhongwan (CV12) acupoints. METHODS: A single dose of intraperitoneal injection of Streptozotocin (45mg/kg/body weight) was injected into the male albino Wistar rats to induce diabetic module. The experimental rats were divided into five groups with six rats in each. The first group was kept as normal. Second group rats were streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Third group diabetic rats were treated with pioglitazone (7.5mg/kg/body weight) daily orally. The fourth and fifth groups of dia |
