In the present work, an attempt was made to develop Gastroretentive tablets of Eprosartan mesylate, Valsartan and Candesartan cilexetil. These drugs are angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARB) widely prescribed in a variety of cardiac conditions like hypertension, diabetic nephropathy and heart failure. The biological half-life of Eprosartan mesylate is 5-7hours, Valsartan is 3-8 hours and Candesartan cilexetil is 6-9hours. All the above drugs have their maximum absorption in the initial part of gastro intestinal tract, which favours the development of gastro retentive floating dosage form.newline |
