With a view to maintain sustainability of groundwater usage in Karayanchavadi region of Chennai, Tamilnadu, groundwater modeling study is found to be one of the potential tools in understanding the system. The main objectives of the present study are to assess the groundwater potential, to evaluate Physico-chemical characteristics of groundwater, to study the spatial and temporal variation of groundwater quality, to develop a quality model using suitable prediction modeling and to suggest methods to ensure suitability of groundwater. Field data like rainfall data, groundwater level data and pumping test data are collected from various departments of the State for 15 years (1998-201
