520__|aWith the increased use of composite structures in many critical engineering applications, interest in identifying and locating damages has increased in recent times. One of the effective non-destructive methods of damage detection is through identification of the vibrational characteristics of the structure. Since the modal parameters are associated to the laminate physical properties, changes could be easily detected when damage occurs in these structures. Not all the modal parameters are sensitive to change in properties due to the presence of these damages. There have been several studies on detection of damage involving analysis of the measured modal parameters, especially the frequencies and mode shapes. However, not many of them deal with laminated composites. Damage is a highly local phenomenon. Generally the local phenomena are related to higher frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes, whereas the global responses are related to the lower frequencies. This has led to difficulties in using thes
