In order to perform arbitrary computations over the encrypted data, the underlying encryption scheme must be Fully Homomorphic. Devising a Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) scheme had been a longnewlinelasting cryptographic research problem for over a period of three decades. In 2009, a first ever theoretical FHE scheme was proposed in a pioneering work by Craig Gentry. Since then, all the FHE schemesnewlineproposed till date have remained theoretical and are not feasible fornewlinepractical deployment. Moreover, for many applications in practice a Somewhat Homomorphic Encryption(SHE), which supports a limited number of computations is sufficient for processing of encrypted data. However, devising even an SHE scheme with practical time complexities is a challenging problem.newline |
