According to International Labour Organisation, Child Labour includes children permanently leading adult lives, working long hours for low wages under conditions damaging to their health and to their physical and mental development, sometimes separated from their families, frequently deprived of meaningful educational and training opportunities that could open up for them a better future .newlineToday, in India millions of children are working long hours at nominal wages or no wages in almost all the sectors of economy at the expense of their education, recreation, health, dignity, freedom and future for generation of surplus to the economic development. In India, the largest numbers of child labourers are found in Uttar Pradesh. However, Census 2011 data reveals that child labour has reduced to great extent. In this context, it becomes important to see if such changes have really taken place. newline |
