520__|aAlthough work and family life have consistently interested scholars, the topic of family incivility has been scantily explored. It has become a topic of great interest in the past few years, predominantly because there has been an unprecedented change in how the work-life and family life function due to the changing demographics, like nuclear families, working couples and single-parent families. Given these structural changes, the individuals find themselves juggling in the two most important spheres of their lives (work and family), thus leading to work-family conflict and family-work conflict, which add stress to people s lives. Stress is a well-explored area of research in organizational psychology. Although it has been scientifically proven that one cannot excel in their work without exposure to stress, being overstressed can adversely affect performance and lead to behavioural issues such as family incivility.
