It comprises of three chapters. Each chapter is subdivided into four parts, namely Introduction, Results and Discussion, Conclusions and Experimental Section along with References. The work described in this thesis is exploratory in nature and the chapters are arranged in the order the investigations were executed. The Chapter 1 deals with the applications of the alkynyltitanium reagentsprepared using l-alkyne/TiCl4/R3N system. The alkynyltitanium reagents were prepared directly from 1-alkynes without using other organometallic reagents such as RLi or RMgX (eq 1). Whereas, the 1,3-diynes were isolated in 49-67% yield in runs without electrophiles, the corresponding addition/substitution products were obtained with electrophiles (Scheme 1). |
