Methodology

INFLIBNET Centre is receiving bibliographic records in varied formats/softwares, i.e. Excel, Access, dBf, CCF, MARC, MARCXML, Soul 1.0, Soul 2.0, Libsys, CDS/ISIS, VTLS, Alice, KOHA, NewGenlib etc. from universities in online and offline modes.
  • These records are converted into ISO 2709 format.
  • Removed typographical mistakes in place, publisher & subject fields using Union Catalogue Management System Software (UCMS).
  • Standardized records, after authentication, are merged into the IndCat in a batch mode.
  • Unique records are segregated from duplicate records with availability information.
  • Efforts were made to automate these activities in online mode using OCS.
